Directors & Officers Liability

Directors & Officers Liability

Directors and officers (D&O) liability insurance is intended to protect the personal assets of individuals in the event they are personally sued as a result of serving as a director or officer of a company.

A D&O policy also protects a business or non-profit organization for any legal fees or costs that may be associated with defending individuals against lawsuits. Although coverage is intended to cover individuals, it is typically purchased by companies rather than the individuals.

Directors and officers policies specifically provide coverage for “wrongful acts” such as neglect or misleading statements.

Is your business or organization protected?

Although small businesses may not think this coverage is necessary, they may not have the financial resources to cover the costs of an individual being sued over their company affairs. No matter the size of the business, the protection provides security in the event of a covered loss.

Directors and officers policies can be offered in different forms depending on the nature of the business. This coverage is sometimes offered alongside other management liability insurance that cover the corporation’s management liabilities.

Here at H.B. Cowan we can provide you with the personalized experience, knowledge and support your company deserves. Give us a call today.
